pretty stoned

I had a rock collection as a kid.
I don't know if that means I was an uber nerd and just didn't know it or what.
I just always thought they were so pretty.
I now have bits of rocks and stones scattered throughout my house
that are left over from my rock collection as well as a few new additions.
Here are a few pieces that make it hard to find a new obsession.

Shoppe by Amber Interiors

I don't know if any of you follow Amber's blog.
If you don't you really are missing a lot!
She's super fun and has great taste (in my humble opinion).
Anyway, Amber's recently opened an online Shoppe and after an initial rush
the shoppe's recouped and has lots of pretties back in stock.

Check it!...

little nip and tuck

I feel like styling our own home can be a bit of a challenge for a lot of us.
I've seen a lot of successful attempts lately and thought I might share some of my inspiration for readdressing some spots in my house.

 I think natural objects ie:corals, plants,stones,even skeletons
add an air of comfort and belonging to any space.
Earthy things feel casual and effortless, like they just belong--
making me feel the same way about the space.
It's also nice to have something pretty
and interesting for your guests to look at!

okay, so no one really styles their home with shoes and purses
but there are some great notes to take here;
always stick to a color pallet. You can embellish your pallet
with more dynamic mixes of color but try to remember
your original idea as you work through the space.
An intentional hand is always successful.

Books are also a nice addition-they add variety in height and the simple geometric form of the books spine is a nice foil for a "chachki-full" home.

A little spunk is also always nice. Accessories are a great way to add some rad oddities on the cheap.
The artwork here really pulls the color pallet together- a small way to repeat the red, pink and blue brights really reinforces the color story. I hate when my surroundings start to feel stale and these movable bursts of color can easily make the rounds in your apartment or house.

the well traveled artist type

I'm the first to admit I'm no good at catchy titles for posts but
maybe this will make up for my short comings

I recently stumbled upon this site, it's new to me but i think its really great,
allow me to introduce

This is a wonderful resource because the textiles sold here are as beautiful and inspiring
as the way they are made.
Robshaw says that his search for a natural india die for his art first introduced  him to the processes used to create ancient dyed, printed, woven, stitched, and worn piqued textiles. He searches for the elderly, life long  print makers in India, Indonesia and China to help him produce these textiles because he knows that their eye is keen for composition and their knowledge is invaluable. Their aged shaky hand provides an honest made quality that today's textiles cannot hold a candle to.

I love the honesty and simple beauty of this company.
The things they offer are exquisite but the ethos of the company is what impresses me.
Their ability to maintain traditional production of goods is something to admire.
Here are some of their lovelies for you to drool over...

These are some of my favorites but their catalog is much more extensive.
It's to the trade only, so contact me if you're interested.

The site also offers some ready mades (ie. pillows, bedding, etc.)
so definitely take a minute to look around

Ethnic Flavor

I love a little Moroccan flavor in my home.
It's getting warmer out and I'm falling back in love with color and pattern.
I'm taking the evening to sift through some photos on Pinterest,
and it looks like i've made a wise decision.
so many pretty things to drool over!

here are a few modern interpretations that i think are very successful...

she has one of the prettiest homes ever!

If you take issue with color, Morrocan style can still be an option.
Maybe with a little soothing tweak.

Tangerine tango

Pantone's color of 2012 has been declared

They're forecasting this jewel to be on our runways
and in our lives a lot this year.
In honor of this lovely hue I thought I'd try my hand at my first outfit to room.

i chose this outfit
i love this color with nude/tan and a little lavender
 Olioboard wasn't being very cooperative
in letting me upload all of the pieces I selected,
but here's what I have for now...

thoughts?comments?concerns?

I kind of feel like the room idea doesn't do her way cute ensemble justice,
but hopefully I'll get the hang of this soon.

Anyone have any other ideas for colors that would compliment this pretty, pretty tangerine tango?
