Lovely white

Here's a little soothing white to help you wind down for the weekend.
So close people!

sometimes you need a little bit of activity -entertainment for the eye- maybe not so soothing to most
but i think its happy and i personally would love to sit and work quietly at this desk

cuddle up
and have a lovely weekend off!

guest room/ studio

I'm currenly taking the week to -try to-finish up our guest room.
It's working triple + duty as my sister's bed room, my painting etc area, cat littler box room
and whatever else it needs to be at any given time.
I'm certainly not complaining. Makeno mistake, since moving to dc recently
there's a fairly solid flow of guests coming in to visit and it's so, so nice
to have a sizable room to put them up in.
Now, if I can get it looking presentable maybe our guests will stay longer
and i can feel more settled dragging out all of my painting stuff in there without feeling like i'm only adding to the unending mess.

i really like the mood of this daybed deal.
The mix of color lends itself to transition and since i know i love to change my mind
and try new things constantly this crazy colors thing could really work in my favor.

Here's the board i've worked out-I'm on a thin budget but luckily when you buy your first house people just feel this need to give you whatever furniture they have sitting around the house!
Gifties include beautiful secretary from a kindred aunt (i always loved this very piece of furniture growing up), a bed from a friend who moved out of the country :(,
and tons of fabric scraps from school and small projects.

hopefully this will happen

i'll keep you posted

tenny weenie spaces

We bought a skinny row house near capital hill in DC.
The rooms in our new house are all really narrow and there's this one room in particular that's really tiny and kind of awkward. It's been dubbed my husband's office. But, since he doesn't work from home it's kind of just a catch all for his music stuff.
I've been trying to clean it up a little and have added some lighting and a desk. I've just made a window treatment and am now facing the huge pile of CD's, LP's and ages old cell phone bills he insists on keeping.

He's in serious need of storage but I just can't bring myself to buy another piece of furniture with a huge foot print. The obvious choice is hanging shelves but our walls are so old we can't drill into them far enough to hang the old stand by Ikea ones. I know there has to be a way to supply some organized attractive storage for his walls. I love the closeted office thing- too bad there aren't really many closets in 100+ year old houses.

I'm on the hunt for some shelving- im thinking something tall, maybe stackable.
im liking this hive deal- here's the mood board for this room. maybe that'll help.
