One Kings Lane day!!

So, don't know if you've noticed but I'm kind of in awe of this girl, Amber lewis-

Right after you go shop for a moment at OKL, you should go check out her blog.
It makes my life complete!

thanks, loves!!

magpies and me

I don't think of myself as a girly, glittery kind of person
but every once in a while something shiny catches my attention. I don't know if I could live in a lacquered up home but on occasion I find myself jealous of some of those who do.
some examples of my jealousy include...

(hot pink and hermes orange and mocha never make an ugly love child, just sayin')

My favorites are 1,4,5and 6.
I like the wall color of this last one, but am way not a fan of the too "match-y" pillows.
Anyone else concur?
oh, and the photos are from pinterest .
((if you're not on pinterest nightly, you're not living!!))

anyway, night guys!

Workin' it

So, I'm on the job hunt and summertime is really messing with my sense of interview appropriate clothing.
It is super duper hot here in DC and I'm having trouble keeping my toesies in anything other than flops.
Digging around in my closet has me wishing for a guidebook on not suffocating in the heat while maintaining an adult appearance,ie: no sundresses, flops, tanks, etc.
A girl's life is too hard sometimes.

here are some ladies that I think have done a great job dressing for work.
Maybe I'll glean a few pointers.

yeah, I drank the minty fresh cool aid.

sans kid, but i don't see how this is inappropriate for the workplace.
Ammiright??

Ms.Meares does it right.
Rowdy is the perfect accessory for ANY outfit!!love himmm
i also like how he's literally besie himself of this sofa :)

first few images, pinterest// last one NEW glitterguide+ furbish !!!

CHECK IT!!!! :)
very own Raleigh girl making it happen, love her perspective on design!
and her pup ain't bad either

Shelf life

Today's my first day back from a fabulous vacation and now it's time to clean.
My yard is a disaster and I've spent the morning digging up pitiful, fried little plants and trying to salvage them in the shade. Weeding and gardening and such has me an an organizational mood so allow me to indulge.

love this atmospheric blue and coral-red together, the snakeskin table tops off a perfect look.

this slate blue backing frames the white and yellow so well

cute little nook shelf, love this idea

And, of course, amber interiors does a fab job with all the crisp fresh white in this built in.

gotta love some gold and seafoam, always a pretty combination

a little touch of weird never hurt anyone

I have a little bit of a problem.
I always build a plan for projects but as the process unfolds I get over excited and stray from the plan.
I've learned best from mistakes made that this is something to be avoided.
Continuity is key in all art.
I'm so happy to see how others can hold off on their additive quirk until the end of a project.

I think everyone should add a dash of their own brand of weird in a project.
It's the quirks that make things interesting and welcoming in my opinion.

The firearms and fish make things light and a bit laughable: I Love!

I may not be down with the gilded guy on the console but the pup photo is a success in my book.

cozy pants

I feel like poop today.
I lost my voice the other day and now the only noise i have is a goose honk. All I want is to be in in a cuddly bed.
This may be as good a spot as any to blog from.
There's a little eye candy for entertainment and lots of pillows to find my one weird comfortable spot.
maybe a few more 'chachkis' tho to look at...like
and

i could also be here for the day
in some punjammies
sipping some really hot hot chocolate or lemon water
Or I could cuddle up for a good nap in this rainy day-appropriate bedroom
lookin' at you, kid...
(maybe with a dark patina-ed bronze frame)
watching this grow
